Imagine that you are living your life, maybe in a home in town or out in the countryside, working hard, raising your family, following the laws of the United States, when you learn that the EPA has declared that an Indian tribe that long ago roamed free in the area in which you now reside, has been granted control over the land on which you live. You now find yourself governed, not by the laws of the United States, but under the rules and regulations of that particular Indian tribe. Sound far-fetched?
